Everything in our moon phases guide holds regardless of zodiac sign: a full moon is a full moon. But the moon also moves through the zodiac roughly every 2.5 days per sign, cycling through all twelve about once a month, and that adds a second layer most people don't get to until they've already got phases down.
Grouped by element
Rather than working through all twelve signs individually, it's easier to start with the four elements they belong to:
- Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): high energy, good for courage, action, and quick-turnaround workings. The impatient end of the spectrum; not the best window for anything requiring slow, careful build-up.
- Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): grounded and practical, well suited to money, home, and long-term workings. Slower to get moving, but steady once it does.
- Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): communication, social, and intellectual work. Good for anything involving conversation, writing, or negotiation; can feel scattered for workings that need sustained focus.
- Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): emotional depth, intuition, love and healing work. The strongest window for psychic and shadow work; can also amplify moodiness if that's already present.
Combining it with phase
Phase and sign stack rather than compete: a full moon in a water sign leans hard into emotional release and divination, while a full moon in a fire sign is more likely to feel like a big, active push. Neither combination is bad; they just suit different kinds of work.
Checking the current sign
Like void of course timing, this isn't something you can eyeball: a moon calendar app or astrology site will show the current sign, updated every couple of days.
